Tim Cook at FIRST®: education as a great catalyst
Apple CEO Tim Cook attended the 6th "FIRST® Inspire Gala" as guest of honour, where he spoke in a festive atmosphere about educational practices in the STEM field. In addition, he participated in fundraising to support the work of the non-profit organization.
Tim Cook was an honored guest at the FIRST® event on November 15, where prominent technology and social media personalities also asked him questions. Cook shared with the audience his thoughts on the importance of FIRST® as a group they ought to support.
"FIRST® has created an environment in which technology and creativity interact, which proves the value of this partnership," Cook said. "You [FIRST®] do this for the students in this room and for hundreds of thousands worldwide. And we're all here today because we recognize how important this work is."
The "FIRST® Inspire Gala" was emceed by FIRST founder Dean Kamen, Will.i.am, Zem Joaquin and Marc Hodosh. Numerous robotics competition teams also attended.
Brian Tong, a popular YouTuber on technology, interviewed Tim Cook and discussed the event and the importance of education. Cook also spoke about Steve Jobs and called education a "great catalyst".
Apple works with a plethora of educational groups, charities and NGOs. In addition, it conducts workshops for teachers to ensure that the latter are able to use it to its fullest extent in the classroom.
Apple has supported FIRST® since 2015 in its efforts to conduct as many STEM programs as possible around the world.
