"Completion of the FIRST® LEGO® League Thessaly Regional Educational Robotics Competition in Volos and qualification to the Greek Final"
The FIRST® LEGO® League Thessaly Regional Educational Robotics Competition was successfully held on Saturday 18 February in Volos, a co-organization of Eduact and the University of Thessaly.
A total of 17 teams with 200 students and coaches participated in the competition. Having energy as this year's theme, how it is distributed, stored and used, the participants are building an innovative and better energy future. A significant contribution was made by the local community volunteers who numbered over 35 and participated as judges, referees and chaperones for the teams.
The Thessaly Regional Competition is one of eight regional competitions held this year in Greece. A total of 30% of the teams will secure their qualification to the final of the FIRST® LEGO® League Greece, which will take place on 18 and 19 March in Thessaloniki.
The teams that qualified for the FIRST® LEGO® League GREECE FINAL in the CHALLENGE category are C3020 Robo_Friends, C3027 tal.OS, C3045 RobotExperts, C3046 R^2, C3087 AKETH Energy Lions and we were honoured with the presence of Mrs. Zetta Makri, Deputy Minister of Education and Religious Affairs, Mr. Michael Zoumpoulakis, Professor of the Department of Economics of the University of Thessaly and Managing Director of EADP PTH, Mr. Rodakinias Petros, member of the EDI of the Department of Spatial Planning and representative of the MOKE of the University of Thessaly, Mr. Loukas Zachilas, Associate Professor and President of the Department of Economics, (member of the Volos Astronomy Society), Mr. Christos Kioussis, this year's ambassador of the FIRST® LEGO® League Thessaly, Mr. Nikos Bountouris, former international basketball player, Mrs. Dora Moutsiou, world and national champion in the sport of Shooting for people with disabilities and Mr. Haris Karakatsounis, former international basketball referee who congratulated all the contestants and encouraged them to continue their efforts.
