Do you always ask questions and investigate everything around you like a true detective?
Do you consider technology a superpower and envision groundbreaking inventions?
Do you want to experiment with your innovative ideas in the real world?
Does exploring nature, adventuring with friends and enjoying some fun under the sun make your heart beat faster ?
If the answer is YES then the FIRST® LEGO® LEAGUE CAMPUS will catapult your summer and set your educational journey on a unique trajectory around the world of tomorrow!
The Programme
The FIRST® LEGO® LEAGUE CAMPUS is a unique camping experience of international standards which is being introduced for the first time in Greece by Eduact !
FIRST® LEGO® LEAGUE is a global educational program that introduces science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) to children through fun, exciting, hands-on learning. It has been held as a championship every year since 1998 in more than 110 countries worldwide and is recognized by the Greek Ministry of Education.
Educational experience
The concerns of young innovators are several, their childhood needs multidimensional and the summer break is rather long... what could be better than camping fun at a world-class educational CAMPUS where the challenges of tomorrow become the adventures of today ?
At the CAMPUS, participants will gain real-world problem-solving experience through a guided, world-class robotics, research and innovation program helping them cultivate the mindset that will lead them to confidently manage tomorrow's challenges.
- Educational Robotics Workshops
- Innovation Project Workshops
- Soft Skills & Career Readiness Workshops
- Camp activities at the Y.M.C.A. facilities: sea, sailing, canoeing, sports, adventure track
Ages: 6-16 years old
Through the daily, full-day educational CAMPUS we will cultivate:
- Early professional skills
- Holistic learning perception
- 21st century skills
- Computational Thinking and S.T.E.M. skills
- Fun
-Strong friendships and the best summer memories
The camping philosophy of the Y.M.C.A.
Camping offers unique, fun and unforgettable experiences. Children for many years ahead remember how they accomplished things they never imagined they could accomplish. And the feelings they experience are beyond description.
At camp we make friends, real friends, that last a lifetime. We lean from each other, we help those in need, we gain shared experiences, we grow together.
Camping gives campers the opportunity to live as a group, to get in touch with nature, in an environment of unique beauty, while experiencing smooth socialization.
Children acquire principles and values, become more responsible, independent and learn to stand on their own two feet. Of course, we are always by their side to empower them without offering ready-made solutions, we are there to to help them overcome challenges on their own.
Pedagogical Design
The pedagogical design of the FIRST® LEGO® LEAGUE is curated by the non-profit organization FIRST® (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) with 40 years of experience in creating educational content in the STEM and New Technologies sector, while supporting material and equipment is provided by LEGO®'s educational division (LEGO® Education).
FIRST® programs promote the holistic cultivation of individual skills
Cognitive Skills - decision making, subject knowledge (math, science), reasoning, problem solving
Physical Skills- spatial, fine and gross motor skills
Creative Skills - imaginative thinking, inventiveness
Emotional Skills - confidence, commitment, motivation,
self-efficacy, perseverance
Social Skills - cooperation, communication, interpersonal, social relationships
The camping experience is introduced by Eduact, Operational Partner of FIRST® LEGO® LEAGUE in Greece, Cyprus and the Balkans, with 10 years of experience in the program.
The camp is staffed by Eduact's excellent coaches and educators with the support of experienced camp staff from the Y.M.C.A. offering children an exclusive experience.
Our 10-day camp is very carefully and thoroughly organized by members of Eduact. The workshops, as well as every other activity, are planned based on pedagogical disciplines and extensive experience in the field. We set specific goals and make sure to take care of each and every camper, with their personal characteristics and individual preferences being taken into account.
While the children rest at their houses, their robotics instructors give them 20’ engineering tips and challenges to expand their knowledge. Those who don’t want to sleep can play games or prepare for the evening entertainment.
Sports Activities include 5 activities daily. During the course of the week we make sure all the kids try as many different activities as possible .
The kids will be organized in two groups, depending on their age and previous experience in robotics.
Through the program, children will be able to familiarize themselves with physics!
The cost presented refers solely to the 10 day camping programme. This cost does not include transportation to and from the meeting point indicated. The cost covers transportation from the White Tower of Thessaloniki to the camping site, the 10 day experience there and the ride back to the White Tower of Thessaloniki.
Parents and Guardians are welcome to attend the 10 day camping program where children will join as campers and parents will operate closely with the staff as instructors and chaperones themselves. A unique experience for the whole family unfolds right on the camping site!
Alternatively, Eduact can provide recommendations for quality nearby hotels as well as cultural experiences in the area upon request for parents/guardians who wish to be close to the young campers but not stay on the camping site (the hotel and experiences’ expenses are to be covered by parents/guardians).
Total responsibility, discrete sensitivity and bright spirit are among the characteristics of the camp people who will accompany the children in this unique experience of knowledge and life.
Every day includes:
S.T.E.A.M. ACTIVITIES
Every day the children will participate in S.T.E.A.M. activities in which they will:
→build with incredible materials
→solve math puzzles
→understand physics and chemistry in a simple way through everyday life
→familiarize themselves with technology and programming through games
ROBOTICS
Robotics workshops where children build and program their own robots.
Each workshop will aim to complete a different mission each time. This will allow them to exercise their skills with creativity and imagination
→ programming
→ engineering
→ mathematics
→ geometry.
They will also become familiar with technology and research through tests to perfect their robot in all areas.
